Testing tells you a batch was pure. Traceability tells you the vial in your hand is from that batch. Without it, a COA is a document about some compound — not necessarily yours.
What a lot is
A lot is a single, defined production batch. Every unit in a lot shares the same synthesis, the same handling, and the same test result. Assigning a unique lot number at receipt is the first step in a verifiable chain of custody.
The chain, end to end
- Receipt & lot assignment — each batch is logged and given a unique lot number on arrival.
- Independent testing — a sample from that exact lot is submitted for HPLC analysis.
- COA publication — the result is published against that lot number, openly.
- Fulfillment — your order ships carrying the same lot number, which matches the published COA.
At G13, that chain is unbroken from synthesis to delivery. The lot number on your order is the same one you enter in the COA Portal to pull its independent analysis.
Why it matters for research
Reproducibility depends on knowing your inputs. If you cannot tie your material to a documented batch, you cannot account for it in your notes, compare it across experiments, or report it credibly. Lot traceability turns "we test our products" into "here is the test for the exact unit you received." That is the standard research deserves — and the one every G13 compound is held to.
